Mayhem Mode Disclaimer

Last Updated: 7 November 2025

Mayhem Mode is setting available for tokens launched using the pump.fun token launcher smart contract and tokens which use the pump decentralized exchange (together, with the related web and mobile applications, the “Pump Platform”). It is a voluntary setting enabled by a token creator or importer, and no user of the Pump Platform is required to interact with tokens which use the Mayhem Mode setting to use the Platform.

What is Mayhem Mode?

Mayhem Mode creates automated and randomized trading for tokens using the mode. Although tokens created with Mayhem Mode follow the same fundamentals as other tokens launched using the Pump Platform, Mayhem Mode adds additional features for token trading, which some users may not like. For users who do not wish to participate in token trades that may be impacted by Mayhem Mode, tokens labeled as being launched in or using Mayhem Mode should be avoided. Even if a token creator opts into Mayhem Mode, the mode will not be active with respect to that token unless the token is less than twenty-four hours old, and none of the termination conditions described below have been triggered.

Furthermore, the Mayhem Mode bot may not trade on every token which has opted in to Mayhem Mode, depending on the suitability of that token for Mayhem Mode trading and the number of other tokens which are presently utilizing Mayhem Mode. In this instance, the Mayhem Mode bot will randomly select which Mayhem Mode tokens it will trade. Mayhem Mode will be functional on a maximum number of tokens at any given time, and this limitation will be fixed regardless of the number of tokens which have opted into Mayhem Mode. Mayhem Mode trades will occur with no greater frequency than one trade per second per Mayhem Mode token. Mayhem Mode trades will never be larger than a fixed amount of Solana tokens, and may dynamically respond to market conditions such as slippage.

Mayhem Mode tokens are launched with 2,000,000,000 tokens, as opposed to the standard 1,000,000,000 tokens that are created when a standard token is launched. For Mayhem Mode tokens, 1,000,000,000 tokens will go into the bonding curve at launch (like every other Pump Platform token). The other 1,000,000,000 tokens will go to a trading bot, which will execute trades at random intervals and for randomized amounts.

The Mayhem Mode bot is equally likely to buy or sell the Mayhem Mode token, however, the amounts which the Mayhem Mode bot sells will be, on average, slightly higher than the amounts of the Mayhem Mode tokens which it purchases. The bot will trade at random intervals and for randomized amounts, so no user should base their own buying or selling decisions on what they believe the bot will do; the bot is unpredictable. Mayhem Mode terminates when any one of the following conditions have occurred:

  1. A certain amount of time has elapsed since the token was launched; or
  2. The Mayhem Mode bot has executed more than a specified number of trades on that particular token.

When Mayhem Mode has concluded with respect to a token, it will not be reactivated for that same token. After Mayhem Mode is terminated any amounts of the Mayhem Mode token that are controlled by the bot are burned. Tokens which were created with Mayhem Mode may have a higher (or lower) token supply than other tokens launched on the Platform, and therefore Mayhem Mode tokens will carry the Mayhem Mode tag even if Mayhem Mode is not presently active with respect to that token. Trades executed by the bot do not pay Pump Platform fees, including fees paid to token creators.

Why Is Mayhem Mode a Part of the Pump Platform?

Mayhem Mode is an optional part of the Pump Platform to increase token discovery and make trading more fun. We encourage users to create their own crazy coins and take part in the mayhem. The objective of Mayhem Mode is to introduce volatility to tokens whose creators opt in to the mode, and otherwise meet the criteria for the Mayhem Mode bot to trade such token. The Mayhem Mode bot is not attempting to earn gains from token trading.

What Risks are Associated with Mayhem Mode?

All of the risks outlined in our terms and conditions are applicable to tokens created using Mayhem Mode. Mayhem Mode also creates additional risks in using the Pump Platform, including:

  • Risk of Economic Loss. Although tokens created using Mayhem Mode will generally be traded more frequently, the risk that any given token will decrease in value or lose all of its value remains the same for tokens created in Mayhem Mode.
  • Price Volatility. Mayhem Mode may impact the price of tokens in unpredictable ways, and cause the price of tokens using the mode to change in a volatile fashion.
  • Lack of Economic Value. Mayhem Mode does not add value to tokens, even if it engages in trading with those tokens. Tokens do not have intrinsic value, and Mayhem Mode does not change this fact.
  • Liquidity and Market Access. Although tokens using Mayhem Mode may trade with greater frequency than similarly situated tokens which do not use Mayhem Mode, there is no guarantee that the market for any token, including those using Mayhem Mode, will have liquidity at any given time, which may affect the value of the token.
  • Market Manipulation. The Mayhem Mode bot acts at random, within the parameters described above. The Pump Platform discourages manipulation of token prices to the maximum extent possible. However, it is possible for users to collude in a fashion which could manipulate the price of tokens, including tokens using Mayhem Mode. It is possible that other users will engage in practices like wash trading or collusion to intentionally impact the price of a token, and Mayhem Mode does not prevent these practices. When using the Pump Platform, you are assuming the risks of economic loss from this type of activity.
  • Security Risks. Although the Mayhem Mode bot is audited and designed using industry standard security practices, it is possible that the bot will malfunction or be exploited. The risk of these failures is borne by the user of the Pump Platform in all instances.
  • Execution Risk. All tokens traded using the Pump Platform are traded through the smart contracts associated with the Platform. The Pump Platform strives to ensure that the token attributes such as price are accurately reflected in the web and mobile applications that make up the Pump Platform, however, the price reflected in such user interfaces is not necessarily the price that will be charged when a trade is executed. Mayhem Mode may exacerbate this issue, as tokens which use Mayhem Mode may have increased trading activity. The user of the Pump Platform accepts any risk that the price reported on the web or mobile application is inaccurate with respect to the execution price.

Users of the Pump Platform, and of tokens which use Mayhem Mode, voluntarily assume all of these risks. The only way to avoid these risks is by not using the Pump Platform, or, for the risks which are specifically associated with Mayhem Mode, by not trading tokens which opt in to that mode.
